At a certain point I was born in Athens, and grew up in north-eastern Greece, in Xanthi, Thrace. I studied philosophy in Thessaloniki, Brussels, Oslo and Princeton. I am currently associated with the Department of Philosophy at the University of Oslo, and since July 2021 I am a Fellow at the Center for the Study of Platonism, in the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge.
Late antique Metaphysics, Cosmology, and the early Christian philosophical tradition with an emphasis on their interaction, are among my main research interests. I am fond of viewing Early Christian and Byzantine philosophical tradition as a continuation of Greek thought.
My doctoral dissertation is a study of a rather neglected subject in late ancient thought, both pagan and Christian, that of ἐπιτηδειότης (aptitude).
Together with Lars Fredrik Janby, Eyjólfur Kjalar Emilsson, and Torstein Theodor Tollefsen, we have edited the anthology Platonism and Christian thought in Late Antiquity, in the Routledge series Studies in Philosophy and Theology in Late Antiquity (London: Routledge 2019).
In my spare time I love playing the violin, helping friends and colleagues in different tasks (text editing, authoring, indexing, etc.), and, of course, travelling, while I’m also acting as a free lance author writing on politics as well as cultural, and religious affairs, in English, Greek and Norwegian.
